Individualized Education Options in Georgia

There is a lot of hope for 2021 as vaccines continue to be distributed and as new officials take office all over the country. And Atlanta has big dreams in new legislation that could change education for the state.

A former public school teacher turned representative is looking to serve Georgia’s students by giving them more individualized opportunities in education through the Georgia Educational Scholarship Act. When interviewed about the new bill, Wes Cantrell of Woodstock stated,

I know that even the best public or private schools in our state cannot meet the needs of every student. Just as every child is unique, so are their educational needs. The Georgia Educational Scholarship Act will address those needs by bringing a more personalized and flexible education plan to parents and students throughout the state of Georgia.

According to The Center Square:

The legislation would redirect 100% of the state funding for each student to an approved private school. The account would be available for families with incomes below 200% of  the federal poverty level, military families, students who have been adopted from foster care, those with special needs, a disability or those who have been bullied. It also would be extended to students who don't have access to remote learning.

Now more than ever, parents are feeling the need for flexibility and support after a year where many struggled with the unpredictability of schools. Interestingly enough, not every educational scholarship like Georgia’s has these limitations. Want to learn more about flexible learning options? Check out a few of our blog posts to learn more.
